Before his culinary journey, Martel spent 15 years as a certified nursing assistant, an experience that provided him with invaluable skills in care, empathy, and organization. This background made his transition to the culinary world smoother when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, fueling his determination to pursue his passion for the culinary arts.

In 2018, Martel enrolled in JNA Culinary School in South Philadelphia, where he refined his skills and deepened his knowledge of the culinary arts. He successfully completed the program in 2020, earning a bachelor’s degree in hotel management and culinary arts.

As the founder and executive chef of Full Plate Culinary, Martel specializes in personalized, upscale private dining and catering services. His business caters to a wide range of clients, including high-profile individuals, wedding parties, and corporate events. Known for his creativity and attention to detail, Chef Martel curates unique menus that blend soul food traditions with modern culinary techniques.

Full Plate Culinary is a family-centered business, inspired by the love and support of Martel’s wife of 20 years and their three children.
